Periodical indexes in print are located on the index tables and on the last range of reference shelves. Indexes help you locate articles that are published in hundreds of periodicals. They list alphabetically by subject, and sometimes by author, citations to periodical articles. Abstracts provide brief summaries of the articles. Some indexes and abstracts index and summarize books as well as periodicals. General indexes include citations to articles on many subjects, and specialized indexes include citations to articles on specific subjects. Electronic periodical indexes are available on the workstations on the fourth floor.
