A picture of a bibliographic citation. What is a citation?: A citation consists of bibliographic information about books, articles, and essays. The information may include (1) the name of the book, article, or essay, (2) the author's name, (3) publisher, place, and date of publication and, (4) in the case of articles, the name of the periodical in which the article is published, the volume number, date, and page numbers.
