"One stroll around our City College of San Francisco campus allows us to see the large numbers of students who
smoke. We know the average smoker starts cigarette use as a teenager--a time of stress and search for
self-identity and general lack of caring about long-term health consequences...
The nurse practitioners at the Student Health Center are attempting to address smoking cessation in
different ways. One method of outreach is this remarkable poster artwork display from our City College
Students.
During fall semester (2002) we organized a smoking cessation poster contest. All of the posters
were excellent, we had a hard time choosing winners. Each poster brings different perspectives,
but the entire message we hope is the same...care about your health, stop smoking! Come to Student Health
Services, B201 and one of our clinicians will be able to assist and support your effort towards
better health."
