Ken Light is a social documentary photographer whose work has appeared in
books, magazines and exhibitions. His new book, Witness in our Time:
Working Lives of Documentary Photographers was published by Smithsonian
Press in 2000 and is in the City College Library. Light teaches Documentary/
News Photography (Photography 102B) one semester each academic year at
City College.
These photographs of people at work were first exhibited in 1978. Most of the images are of foundry, factory and construction workers. In addition to this body of work on western industrial workers, Light has also authored Delta Time, Freedom on My Mind, To the Promised Land, With These Hands, and In the Fields.
