John Adams Campus -30 Year History: Our Community Mural
In honor of the 70th anniversary of CCSF, the John Adams Campus library presents an exhibition on
the story of our mural.
The mural on the corner of Hayes and Masonic was originally painted in 1976 by the
Haight-Ashbury Muralists during the beginning of San Francisco's mural movement.
Titled "Our History is No Mystery" it reads as a school history lesson from the vewpoint of working people.
In 1988 a new mural, "Educate to Liberate", was designed by the same muralists,
illustrating the many career opportunities available at John Adams Campus.
It was restored in 1995 by the muralists and John Adams students and staff.
Once again badly damaged from graffiti, funding is now being sought
to restore this colorful and historic mural.
