Helen Toribio, who co-authored The Forbidden Book with Abe Ignacio, Enrique de la Cruz and Jorge Emmanuel, also taught at CCSF and at San Francisco State University. Through her research on Filipino American history she examined the U.S. media's historical depiction of Filipinos:
