Children’s Literature Series, Nov. 17 & 18, 2008

The Library & Learning Resource Center’s Children’s Literature Series included an impromptu story time when a class of 15 from the City College childcare center arrived. The children–and adult attendees–were treated to readings by Bay Area-based author/illustrators Maya Christina Gonzalez and LeUyen Pham.

One attendee told us, “I have learned many new things I think I’m going to develop, not only in my classes, but also in my daily life.” The Mission campus event featured an art-making session.

Maya Christina Gonzalez is an artist and award-winning illustrator with almost 20 children’s books under her belt, and LeUyen Pham worked in animation for feature films before illustrating almost 30 books for children, including Freckle Faced Strawberry, written by actress Julianne Moore.

The Children’s Literature Series was also sponsored by Child Development & Family Studies, Concert & Lectures Series, Latino Services Network, Latin American & Latino/a Studies and Friends of the Library.
