You must pay the SEVIS fee at least 3 business days before applying for a visa. Follow these 5 steps:

Step 1
Complete the application process.

Step 2
CCSF will send you an I-20 document.

Step 3
Fill out the I-901 Form. Pay the SEVIS Fee of $100 by credit card on the internet here. Print a copy of your receipt.

If you do not have Internet service:
a) Ask our office to send you the I-901 form.
b) Complete and mail form to:

Step 4
Bring your I-20 document, receipt for SEVIS fee, to the U.S. Consulate to apply for an F-1 student visa.

Step 5
Get a visa interview appointment with the U.S. Consulate
