GroupWise 7 for Windows: General
Version 7 of GroupWise for Windows is available on new computers and by request (see your local ITS staff person or call the Help Desk at 415.239-3711). If you need to find out which version you have, click Help on the menu at the top of the GroupWise window and choose About GroupWise - or look at your icon.

Version 6.5 is on many Windows computers at the present. I've included some versions of documents for this version where the interface or steps differ from Version 7.
For both 6.5 and 7
- Forwarding Groupwise email to another email address [PDF]—A number of steps to follow so that you not only forward all email, but you make sure that email is deleted from your GroupWise account so that it doesn't fill up and stop functioning entirely.
Why do this? Perhaps because you like to keep your email addresses to a minimum, but need to keep your Groupwise address active for internal CCSF emails. And you may have a lot of email that you want to keep and have more storage capacity at another site. - Changing font size [PDF]—Many folks find the standard font too small to read their messages comfortably. Here's how to change that. This is a Windows setting, not something in Groupwise.
- Deleting Messages [PDF]—Prevent your mailbox from overflowing your allotted space with these tips. 250 MB isn't that much these days.
Version 7 topics/Documents
- Summary of New Features [PDF]
- The complete Novell Manual [PDF]
- Creating Groups [PDF]—Setting up groups or mailing lists so that you can send emails to the same batch of folks repeatedly.
- Using the GroupWise 7 Calendar [PDF]—You can send yourself reminders that appear as bullet points on your calendar, or complete information about meetings or appointments, or create a to-do list.
- Archiving Groupwise email [PDF]—Not recommended unless you're a pretty savvy user: it can be confusing. Archiving allows you to save messages on your hard disk and take them off the Groupwise server, freeing up space. However, you can only access archived messages on that one computer. Questions to ask include: what happens when your hard drive fails?
- Setting up a proxy in the Windows 7 version of GroupWise [PDF]—You can give someone else the ability to read your mail or calendar, or even send messages as yourself. Why would you want to? Perhaps you are a Dean and you want someone in your office to be able to screen your mail or set up appointments for you. Or you may own a Resource, a special GroupWise account that can be created for a room or piece of equipment that needs to be scheduled. You might want others to be able to read the calendar for that resource to see when it was booked. Read about it in this document.

- Setting up notifications whenever and email arrives [PDF]—This may be a convenience or else it will drive you crazy. You can have Groupwise pop up a message and/or make a sound whenever you get an email.
