Professor Price has been teaching at CCSF since 1987.
His goal is to have students see that they can master chemistry and other science/technology/ engineering/math (STEM) disciplines by encouraging active learning and providing support and resources. Professor Price finds it especially inspiring to see students, who initially had fears or never imagined they would choose such fields, to turn on and excel.
He understands that many students come from situations where no one in their social circle knows what it means to commit to academics or to study and enjoy subjects like chemistry. He experienced this himself as the first person in his family to earn a college degree, and he tries to keep this in mind as he guides students' learning.
Professor Price's CCSF activities include the STEM Center, Multicultural Infusion Project, and American Federation of Teachers 2121.
He is a member of the American Chemical Society--Chemical Education and Inorganic Divisions, 2YC3 (2-Year College Chemistry Consortium).
His other interests include alternative politics, swimming, languages, and travel.
