I earned my degrees at the following educational institutions: A.A., City College of San Francisco; M.A., San Francisco State University; B.S., Standard Secondary Teaching Credential (Lifetime), and Ed.D., University of San Francisco.

I started working at CCSF in 1972. I have taught for twenty-eight years in the English and Engineering Departments and served as the Chair of the African American Studies Department, Diversity Calendar Coordinator, Coordinator of the Partnerships to Achieve Academic Success Program, and a founding member of the African American Achievement Program. I became an administrator and have held the following positions: Acting Dean of the Southeast Campus, Dean of the Southeast Campus, Dean of Students, and Dean of the Office of Student Affairs.

City College must serve the needs of students and the community, find ways to make sure that all students have access and complete their matriculation at CCSF, and ensure that students complete their personal goals through the plethora of opportunities City College provides.

I have served in a number of responsible positions, including as the former Chair of the Sustainability Subcommittee, past member of the Academic Senate, former Chair of the Student Equity Committee, past member of the Matriculation, Student Success, Transfer Enhancement, Affirmative Action, Educational Master Plan, Bi-Partite committees, and former member of the Personnel Committee Member as well as a Faculty Advisor in the English Department,

My dissertation discussed community college students, best English instruction practices, and access and retention strategies.
I have served as a former board member, affiliate, or officer on the following organizational or community boards: Mayor's Citizens' Advisory Committee for Community Development, Housing Production Advisory Panel, Center for Public Education, Bayview YMCA, Communities in Schools, Oceanview, Merced, Ingleside Community Association, UCSF Committee on Human Research, San Francisco Parks Trust, Parks Alliance, CAC for the Shipyard
Former Commissioner on the Commission on the Status of Women
Present Commissioner of the San Francisco Housing Authority Commission

I enjoy reading great books, researching important topics, writing poems and essays, and traveling to pleasurable, stimulating destinations.
