B.A. in English: University of Michigan
M.A. in Composition with an emphasis in Reading Instruction: San Francisco State University

I have been a member of the CCSF English Department since 2001.

I believe students learn best when the classroom community feels safe and caring, and when the curriculum is relevant and challenging. I offer students different strategies for learning and studying and encourage them to reflect on their own best practices. I am interested in helping students appreciate reading for pleasure as well as for information.

I am the Reading Coordinator and have been a member of the English Curriculum Committee as well as the Hiring Committee. I have also served on the CCSF Catalog Committee and Basic Skills Committee.

I am trained in Reading Apprenticeship and am a member of the Northern California College Reading Association (NCCRA.)

I enjoy singing in a chorus, reading, and gardening. I live in El Cerrito with my husband and son.
