Windows XP is the Operating system on all new CCSF Windows PCs. In 2003-4, Information Technology Services’ staff placed on Faculty and Staff desks:

  • 1450 Windows XP desktops with Pentium 4 processors
  • 232 Windows XP laptops

If you want to purchase a new Windows PC for CCSF or home, here's what you need to know.

Windows XP features

If you are used to Windows 95 or Windows 98, find out the new features in Windows XP: [PowerPoint presentation online]. Some of them can really help you save time! The Start menu and Taskbar have been revamped, and those are only the most obvious changes.

You also have more choices for viewing your files — especially your pictures (look at them as a slide show without any additional software). Here's how.

If you are or have been a Mac user, here's a Word document that should help make the transition from the Mac OS to Windows XP.
