RE: Banner Upgrade: President's Day Weekend

When I wrote to the college community in December that we would postpone the upgrade of the Banner Information System scheduled for the holiday break, we added that Information Technology Services and the Information Technology Policy Council would recommend another time for the upgrade.

The date has now been chosen, so that ITS and key users are completing preparations for the conversion. I am writing to let you know that the Banner System will be inaccessible from 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, until Tuesday, February 22, at 8 a.m. During this shutdown period, all other technology services will still be available, including GroupWise email, other email, and the Internet. Desktops and laptops will continue to function in the normal manner.

I want to take this occasion to express appreciation to the many key users who have participated in planning for this system conversion, the individuals who have participated in testing the system and will do so over the shutdown period, and the offices which have adjusted their work activities to permit this conversion, including Payroll (which is preparing checks early so that employees are paid on time) and Financial Aid (which is processing applications temporarily in a parallel mode). Also, the ITS team deserves appreciation for their comprehensive planning and their devotion of many hours of weekend work to effect the conversion. Finally, we commend the Help Desk professionals who will be available to provide assistance (telephone 452-5733) The Banner Help Line will be staffed February 22 and 23 ONLY. For assistance on other days, please see Banner contact information.

For all who wish to know more about the Banner upgrade, there is information posted on the college website at www.ccsf.edu/bannerupgrade.
