Biography

Dr. Lisa Harrison is a full-time psychology instructor at City College of San Francisco, as well as a licensed clinical psychologist with a part-time private practice. Her areas of specialty include diversity related issues, such as racism awareness, race and ethnic relations, multicultural psychology, and racial identity development. Lisa's interest in teaching emerged during her graduate training as a psychotherapist. Her doctoral research on White racial identity development, entitled "The Internal Process of Racism Awareness in White Psychologists," along with her graduate school emphasis prepared her to teach Psychology of Race and Ethnic Relations at CCSF. She believes strongly in the importance of incorporating issues of diversity (e.g., gender, sexual orientation, etc.) whenever possible into her teaching of psychology. Lisa occasionally provides workshops and lectures at other institutions and agencies in the community on issues of race and racism. She has been teaching at CCSF since 1996.
