Biography
Susan Evans grew up in the Central Valley of California and attended
Stanford University. While there, she studied in Italy and Mexico
City and learned to speak Spanish and Italian.
Susan developed an interest in Latin America and went to UCLA where
she received a Master's degree in Latin American Studies. She did
her M.A. thesis on family planning in Caracas, Venezuela.
Susan traveled extensively in Latin America, including living in
Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela. Her travels have also taken
her to Kenya, Tanzania, Europe (including Russia), Turkey, Indonesia,
Morocco, and Tunisia. She also spends her summers living in British
Columbia.
Susan began teaching Women's Studies at CCSF in 1975 and developed
Anthropology courses at the college. She was the Chair of the department
for many years. Susan has two sons, one actor and one artist.
