In summer 2009 we are offering something a little different: the chance to learn about Brazilian and Cuban cultures without leaving home!
Dr. Greg Landau of the Latin American and Latino/a Studies Department will be teaching LALS 70: Individual Study in Latin American and Latino/a Studies: Brazilian and Cuban Culture in the Bay Area.
The class meetings will take place at CCSF's new Mission Campus, located at 1125 Valencia Street (cross street is 22nd Street) in Room 213. Joining Dr. Landau will be guest lecturers and demonstrations by members of the Brazilian Cultural Association, Ile Aye, Cuban musicians, and experts on Afro-Cuban religions.
The class will take place Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, June 15 - July 15, with three all day weekend sessions on June 20th, July 18th, and July 19th. The class will include a number of experiential activities focused on music, dance, art and cuisine.
