September 2007

09-29-2007, 2315 hrs, 1900 Geary Blvd, Driving Under the Influence
An officer stationed at an AVOID the 14 DUI checkpoint stopped a driver he suspected of driving under the influence.  The driver failed several field sobriety tests as well as a breath test.  The driver also had several baggies of suspected cocaine in his possession.  The suspect was taken to county jail and booked for possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.  The driver’s vehicle was impounded – Officer Edwards reporting.

09-28-2007, 1800 hrs, Ocean Campus/Parking Lot-K, Hit and Run
An officer respond to K-Lot regarding a hit and run.  A person said her vehicle was struck while parked – Officer Borrego reporting.

09-28-2007, 1400 hrs, Ocean Campus/Science Building, Suspicious Occurrence
An officer responded to the Science Building regarding a suspicious incident.  An instructor reported that someone entered her locked office and shuffled things around.  Nothing was stolen – Officer Ngoi reporting. 

09-28-2007, 1041 hrs, Phelan Avenue, Driving Without A license
A Sergeant stopped a vehicle for failing to yield to a pedestrian.  The driver of the vehicle never had a license issued to him.  The driver was issued a citation and his vehicle was impounded – Sergeant Seligsohn reporting.

09-27-2007, 1520 hrs, Downtown Campus, Aided Case
An officer assisted student with first-aid.  The student said received wound in a classroom – Officer Bermudez reporting.

09-27-2007, 1127 hrs, Ocean Campus/Cloud Circle, Suspended License
An officer stopped a vehicle on Cloud Circle for failing to stop at a stop sign.  The driver of the vehicle had a suspended license.  The driver was issued a citation and his vehicle was impounded – Officer Smith reporting.

09-26-2007, 1425 hrs, Ocean Campus/Reservoir Parking Lot, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft from a vehicle in the Reservoir.  A student reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole several items – Officer Hakes reporting.

09-26-2007, 1324 hrs, Ocean Campus/Cloud Circle, Evading Police
An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for playing loud music on Cloud Circle.  The driver of the vehicle fled after the officer told him to pull over.  The suspect drove through campus at a high rate of speed almost striking several students.  The officer did not pursue the suspect because of the danger posed to the public.  The officer put out a description of the suspect’s vehicle and direction of travel.  Another SFCCDPD unit stopped the suspect at
Circular Avenue and Monterey Blvd.  The suspect was arrested and two passengers in the vehicle were identified and released.  The suspect was booked at county jail for evading police in a reckless manner along with multiple violation of the vehicle code.  The suspect’s vehicle was towed – Officer Smith reporting.

09-26-2007, 1024 hrs, Phelan Avenue, False Registration
An officer on patrol spotted a vehicle parked on Phelan Ave with an altered registration tab.  The Car was towed for the fraudulent registration – Officer Smith

09-25-2007, 1445 hrs, Geneva Avenue, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft on the Muni bus.  A student reported that her wallet was stolen from her backpack while she was on the Muni bus.  The student said the theft occurred in the morning and several hundred dollars had been charged on her credit cards – Officer Alfonso reporting.

09-25-2007, 1102 hrs, Ocean Campus/South Gym, Theft
An officer took a counter report regarding a theft in the South Gym.  A student reported that his backpack was stolen from an unlocked locker while he was in class – Officer Smith reporting.

09-25-2007, 0930 hrs, Ocean Campus/Creative Arts, Theft
An officer took a counter report regarding a theft.  A student said she left her textbook on a shelf while she used the restroom and when she returned the book was missing – Officer Smith reporting.

09-25-2007, 0737 hrs, Ocean Campus/OH Hill, Lodging Without Permit
Officers on patrol were checking the area behind the Horticulture Building.  They found a person camping on the Hillside.  The person turned out to be a homeless student.  The student was admonished and referred to the Dean of Students – Officer Smith Reporting.        

09-24-2007, 1333 hrs, Ocean Campus/Reservoir Parking Lot, Marijuana Offense
A student officer reported to police that there was a vehicle with marijuana sitting on the dashboard.  An officer responded and found what appeared to be a marijuana plant lying on the dashboard.  The officer could also smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  The officer was unable to locate the driver of the vehicle.  The vehicle was impounded and SFPD’s Narcotics Bureau was notified – Officer Edwards reporting. 

09-21-2007, 1020 hrs, Ocean Campus/Cloud Hall, Found Property
A counter report was taken regarding recovered stolen property.  A student’s wallet was turned into lost and found.  The wallet was reported stolen earlier in the week.  The wallet was returned to the student – Officer Sanchez reporting.

09-20-2007, 1847 hrs, Ocean Campus/North Science Parking Lot, Fire
An officer responded to a report of a fire in a dumpster in the North Science Lot.  Several employees were trying to put out the fire using extinguishers and water.  The officer called the fire department for assistance.  The fire department extinguished the fire – Officer Hector reporting.

09-19-2007, 2222 hrs, Downtown Campus, Burglary                 
An officer responded to a burglar alarm in the bookstore.  The officer found a burglary suspect in the bookstore.  The officer detained the suspect and found a large folding knife on her.  Due to the suspect’s violent criminal history the officer called for additional units.  The officer found several items from the bookstore in the suspect’s jacket pockets.  The suspect was booked at county jail for burglary and possession of a knife on campus – Officer Bermudez reporting. 

09-19-2007, 1805 hrs, Havelock Street, Vandalism
An officer on patrol was flagged down by a student regarding a vandalism.  The student said someone broke his vehicle’s side window but nothing was stolen from the vehicle – Officer Hector reporting.

09-19-2007, 1705 hrs, Phelan Avenue, Expired License
An officer stopped a vehicle for failing to yield to a pedestrian on Phelan Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle had an expired license.  The driver was issued a citation and her car was impounded – Officer Edwards reporting.

09-19-2007, 1255 hrs, Ocean Campus/Batmale Hall, Theft
An officer took a counter report regarding a theft in Batmale Hall.  A student reported that someone took his wallet from his jacket pocket while he napped – Officer Wendt reporting. 

09-19-2007, 1210 hrs, Ocean Campus/Rosenberg Library, Aided Case
Officers responded to a report of a subject having chest pain.  The subject was in pain but advised it was from an existing medical condition.  Student health arrived and assisted the subject – Officer Wendt reporting.

09-19-2007, 1201 hrs, Judson Avenue, Disturbing the Peace
Officers responded to a report of a fight on Judson Avenue.  The officers arrived and separated the two parties.  The two parties were fighting over a parking issue.  After it was determined that the fight was all verbal all parties were released – Officer Boyko reporting.

09-18-2007, 2010 hrs, 11 Phelan Avenue, Vehicle Strip
An officer took a counter report regarding a motorcycle that was stripped of equipment at
11 Phelan Avenue.  A student reported that someone stole the mirrors off of his parked motorcycle – Officer Edwards reporting.

09-18-2007, 1720 hrs, Ocean Campus/Reservoir Parking Lot, Disabled Placard Abuse
An officer on patrol spotted a person in a vehicle he suspected of abusing a disabled placard.  The officer checked the status of the placard and determined that it did not belong to the driver of the vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation and the placard was confiscated – Officer Flood reporting.   

09-18-2007, 1250 hrs, Ocean Campus/Cloud Circle, theft
An officer responded to a report of a theft on Cloud Circle.  A student reported that someone stole a bag from the back of his wheelchair.  The student could not determine where or when the bag was taken – Officer Smith reporting.

09-18-2007, 1006 hrs, Ocean Campus/Batmale Hall, Marijuana Sales
An officer on patrol spotted a suspect that matched the description of a person dealing drugs in the area of Batmale Hall.  Officers stopped the suspect and identified him as a student.  While conducting a search for weapons, a Sergeant detected the odor of marijuana.   The suspect had several bags of marijuana packaged for sale.  The suspect was booked at county jail for possession for sale of marijuana and possession of narcotics paraphernalia – Officer Boyko reporting.

09-17-2007, 1356 hrs, Ocean Campus/Lunch Box, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft at the Lunch Box Café.  A student reported that she left her purse unattended and when she returned it was missing – Officer Hector reporting.

09-14-2007, 1400 hrs, Ocean Campus/Conlan Hall, Disruptive Student                                        
Officer responded to Conlan Hall on a report of a disruptive student.  A student became belligerent while being assisted by and employee.  After it was determined no crime was committed, the student was referred to the Dean of Students – Officer Flood reporting.

09-14-2007, 1200 hrs, Ocean Campus/Batmale Hall, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft in Batmale Hall.  An instructor reported that his laptop was stolen from his office – Officer Sanchez reporting.

09-13-2007, 1534 hrs, Ocean Campus/Conlan Hall, Trespassing
Officers responded to Conlan Hall on a report of a student re-entering campus after suspension.  The suspect was given a trespass admonishment by police an hour early and escorted off campus.  The suspect was arrested for trespassing, issued a citation and released – Officer Ngoi reporting.

09-13-2007, 1108 hrs, Ocean Campus/Batmale Hall, Marijuana Offense
Officers responded to the area of Batmale Hall on a report of a drug deal in progress.  The witness followed one of the suspects involved.  Officer detained the suspect and investigated the incident.  It was determined that the suspect detained was most likely buying drugs.  The suspect was later released and referred to the Dean of Student for discipline – Officer Smith reporting. 

09-12-2007, 1155 hrs, Ocean Campus/Rosenberg Library, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft.  A student said she recovered lost backpack in the library.  The student told police her pursing was missing from the backpack – Officer Hakes reporting.

09-11-2007, 1612 hrs, Ocean Campus/Rosenberg Library, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft in the Rosenberg Library.  A student reported that her wallet was stolen from her backpack while she was in the library studying – Officer Hector reporting.

09-11-2007, 1113 hrs, Ocean Campus/South Gym, Theft
An officer on patrol was flagged down by a student regarding a theft.  The student said his property was stolen from an unsecured locker in the south Gym – Officer Smith reporting.

09-11-2007, 0747 hrs, Ocean Campus/Reservoir, Road Rage
A counter report was taken regarding a road rage incident.  An instructor reported that she was followed and yelled at after she honked at a vehicle that cut her off.  The vehicle followed her to the Reservoir Parking Lot and the driver appeared to write down her license plate number – Officer Smith reporting.

09-10-2007, 1403 hrs, Ocean Campus/Batmale Hall, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft in Batmale Hall.  An employee reported that two projectors were stolen from her office – Officer Hector reporting.

09-10-2007, 1330 hrs, Ocean Campus/Track, Theft
A counter report was taken regarding a theft.  A student said she left her backpack near the track while she ran.  When she finished running her backpack was gone – Officer Hakes reporting.

09-10-2007, 0950 hrs, Mission Campus, Vandalism
A counter report was taken regarding a vandalism to vehicle.  An employee reported that someone damaged his motorcycle while it was parked on Bartlett Street – Officer Gamarra reporting.

09-07-2007, 1550 hrs, Ocean Campus/Rosenberg Library, Theft
An officer was dispatched to the Rosenberg Library regarding a theft.  An employee reported that her purse was stolen from her office – Officer Flood reporting.

09-07-2007, 1231 hrs, Judson Avenue, Suspended License
A Sergeant on patrol stopped a vehicle for making and illegal u-turn on Judson Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle had a suspended license.  The driver was issued a citation and his vehicle was impounded – Sergeant Seligsohn reporting.

09-06-2007, 1150 hrs, Ocean Campus/Cloud Plaza, Suspicious Occurrence
A counter report was taken regarding a suspicious acting person.  A student said she was sitting on a bench in Cloud Plaza when she felt something brush her foot.  The student said a man was standing near her and engaged her in conversation.  The student told the man to leave her alone when the conversation turned to foot fetishes – Officer Hakes reporting.

09-05-2007, 1427 hrs, Ocean Campus/Rosenberg, Aided Case
Officers responded to the Rosenberg Library regarding a student that appeared “out of it”.  The first officer on scene called for an ambulance.  Paramedics transported the student to the hospital.

09-05-2007, 1340 hrs, John Adams Campus, Hit and Run
An officer responded to the parking lot regarding a damaged vehicle.  A student reported that someone damaged the bumper of her car while it was parked – Officer Lim reporting.

09-05-2007, 1230 hrs, Ocean Campus/Parking lot D, Vandalism
A counter report was taken regarding a vandalism to vehicle.  A visitor reported that someone tore decals off of the vehicle he was driving – Officer Wendt Reporting.

09-05-2007, 1215 hrs, Ocean Campus/Reservoir, Hit and Run
An officer responded to Circular Street on a report of a hit and run accident.  A student claimed she was the victim of a hit and run while parked in the Reservoir Parking Lot.  The side of her vehicle was damaged – Officer Edwards reporting.

09-05-2007, 1000 hrs, Ocean Campus/West Road, Disruptive Student
A counter report was taken regarding a disruptive student.  An instructor reported that she was harassed by a student while waking to class.  Officer identified the student but turned the matter over to the Dean of Students after it was determined the incident was non-criminal – Officer Edwards reporting.
