The history of photography including the lives and achievements of important photographers presented in illustrated lectures. Students will visit museums to view photographs first-hand. A class designed to stimulate visual thinking and creative problem solving. Films are shown to supplement slide lectures.

History of photography since 1945, highlighting achievements of important photographers. designed to stimulate visual thinking and creative problem solving. Topics covered are: avant garde, surrealism, symbolism, fictional photographs, structuralists, post modernism, contemporary tableau, pop art, social change, contemporary color and investigation of photographic interactions with painting, video and performance. Visits to museums and galleries.
