John Vanoncini -
Head Coach
Coach
Vanoncini starts his 10th season here at City College. He joined the Ram's
coaching staff as the head assistant and pitching coach in 1997 and was
promoted to head coach in the summer of 2000. Coach Vanoncini came from San
Francisco State University, where he served as an assistant coach from
1993-1996. In 1995, Vanoncini helped lead San Francisco State to the NCAC
championship and a 15th place Division II national ranking. Coach Vanoncini
graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara in 1992 and received a Masters in Sports
Science at the United States Sports Academy in 1994.Well respected in the
Bay Area, Coach Vanoncini spends his summers as an instructor at the
University of California, Berkeley baseball camps. Coach Vanoncini also
works as a coach at the Stanford summer camps and All-Star camp. In
addition, Coach Vanoncini is a frequent speaker on pitching and hitting at
other area baseball clinics and camps.
John Herbert - Pitching Coach
Marc Caviglia - Assistant Coach
Coach Caviglia begins his 1st season as an Assistant Coach at City
College of San Francisco. He is primarily working with hitters and
team defense. He returns to City College, where he played in 2003 and
was an 1st-Team All Coast Conference Selection. After the 2003
season, he received a baseball scholarship to the University of
Hawaii-Hilo, where he played during the 2004 and 2005
seasons. Majoring in Communication, he earned his Bachelor of Arts
degree in 2005 from the University of Hawaii-Hilo. He plans to return
back to school to earn his masters degree in Sports Management from
the United States Sports Academy.
