OCLC Label Program Outline
This list of the steps to take is only a reminder.
OCLC's website,
the TourGuide and the Help sceens can give you more familiarity with the progam's features and limitations.
While logged on to OCLC:
- Insert diskette into Floppy (A:)
- For each bib record:
- At the home position press {Alt} and {F12}
- If you want to edit the label at this point, do the folowing steps
INSTEAD of step 2 above:
- At the home position type: SL4 and press {F11} key.
- You can edit the label here, or edit it later in the label program.
- Press {CTRL}{F12} to save this label to your diskette.
- Press {F3} to return to the bib record.
- The label information has now been stored on the diskette in a file
called Getlabel.svs
Using the OCLC Cataloging Label Program
- Insert same diskette into Floppy (A:)
- Double click on the OCLC Labels icon to start the program.
- Maximize the window.
- Open the File menu.
- Open the File menu again.
- Choose Import. This will open a dialog box.
- Check the Look in: field to make sure it is using the Floppy drive (A:)
- Check the File name: field to make sure it is looking for
getlabel.svs
- Click Open in lower right of dialog box.
- For SL4 labels, click OK.
- When you receive the message that Import is successful, delete
A:\getlabel.svs by clicking Yes.
- Open the File menu.
- Choose Search. This will open a dialog box.
- Click on List All.
- To make changes to the labels (such as adding volume numbers) double click on the label you wish to change, or use arrows to highlight and then press {Enter}
- Maximize window, if needed, to edit label.
- When you have finished editing this label, click on X in upper right corner of label window.
- Dialog box asks if you wish to save changes, click Yes.
- When you have finished editing individual labels, return to the top of
the list.
- Labels must be marked before they are printed.
- Click once on first label to be printed.
- While holding down {Shift} click once on last label to be printed. Range of labels will turn blue.
- Open the Action menu.
- Choose Mark for Print.
- Open the File menu.
- Choose Print Marked Labels.
- Check label accuracy and alignment carefully.
- If labels are satisfactory,
Open the Edit menu.
- Choose Delete Label(s). This will open a dialog box.
- Click on Yes.
- Open the File menu.
