Language
Center Services
The
Language Center at City College of San Francisco supports credit courses
in American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), French,
German, Italian, Japanese, Pilipino, Russian, and Spanish.
Services
provided include:
Audio
and video stations for student use.
The Language Center houses 80 audio stations, 4 DVD stations, 9 VHS
station, and 6-8mm video stations, and 20 computer stations.
Language
learning software
We provide instructional software for American Sign Language, Chinese,
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and Tagalog (Pilipino).
Duplication
Service
Some tapes may be duplicated in the Language Center for student use.
The duplication service takes 3 working days. Please check with the
Language Center to see whether your tapes may be duplicated or are available
for purchase in the CCSF Bookstore. Please consult the Language Center

here. Students may also request tape duplication from the Castro
and Downtown Campuses
and the Marina site.
Online
Language Lab
Much of the Language Center audio materials are available on the Language
Center's Online Language Lab. You must obtain a user name and password
from your instructor to use these materials. Check the Online
Language Lab page to see if the materials you need are available.
Internet
Access
The Language Center provides internet access to students enrolled in
Foreign Language Department courses with internet-based assignments.
The Language Center's website also has language learning links for all
languages taught in the credit program at City College of San Francisco.
Language
Center Classroom
The multimedia classroom (R-205E) can be reserved by foreign language
and ESL instructors for a variety of presentations and activities. There
are 33 audio/PC stations with internet access, an instructor's console
with projection system, multistandard DVD and VHS players, karaoke,
and laser disk player. You may view the Language Center Classroom

Instructor
Training
Instructors are encouraged to make appointments to come in individually,
or in small groups for informal training in the technologies of their
choice. Occasional formal workshops are also given as part of staff
development days (FLEX) or at other times during the semester by request.

Library
of Materials for Instructor Use
The Language Center maintains a collection of foreign language and language
instruction oriented dvd's, videos, audio cassette tapes, laser disks,
and other media which can be checked out by instructors for use in their
classes. Please come into the Language Center or consult the "Materials"
page for any individual language.
