CCSF Language Center
General Information

  • The Language Center provides audio, video, and computer stations with high-speed internet access to support and complement coursework in the credit-program languages taught at City College of San Francisco: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Pilipino, Russian, and Spanish, as well as Modern Greek in the non-credit program through Continuing Education.

  • Unless otherwise posted, regular hours of operation are:

    Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 6:45 pm
    Friday, 8:00 am to 2:45 pm
    Saturday, 10:00 am to 1:45 pm

  • The Language Center is closed when CCSF is not in session.

  • Explore this page to learn about the Language Center’s services and the materials. Check the classroom schedule to confirm if your class is meeting in R-205E. Take a Virtual Tour of the Language Center. Review the Center’s procedures with an Online Orientation. For general questions about the Language Center, consult the FAQs. Instructors can view the instructors’ resource page for useful links. The Learning Assistance Center, located in R-207, offers tutoring in credit languages.

  • The Online Language Lab has audio materials to accompany many of the textbooks used in the language classes. The Foreign Language Department and the Course Schedule can answer specific questions about enrolling in a language class. Language News has information about campus language clubs and activities. You can contact many of the instructors at their homepages. CCSF’s Study Abroad Programs offer many opportunities to live and study in Brazil, Cuba, France, Italy, Mexico, and many other countries!

  • Online placement recommendation tests through Brigham Young University are available for French, German, and Spanish. CCSF administers placement testing for Chinese and Japanese.
