General Information

  • The Language Center provides audio, video, and computer stations with high-speed web access along with a wide range of language-learning resources to support and complement the credit foreign language program at City College of San Francisco, including American Sign Language, (Cantonese and Mandarin) Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Pilipino, Russian, and Spanish, as well as Modern Greek in the non-credit program through Continuing Education.

    The Language Center also houses a collection of textbooks, workbooks, and media supplements for almost all foreign language credit classes. These materials may be checked out for use in the Language Center facility (no home circulation).

  • 2014 Spring Semester hours of operation are as follows:

    Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am to 6:45 pm
    Friday: 8:00 am to 2:45 pm
    Saturday: 10:00 am to 1:45 pm



  • The Language Center is closed when CCSF is not in session, including all holidays and semester breaks. For more information about closures, please consult the instructional calendar.

  • The Online Language Lab has audio materials to accompany many of the textbooks used in the language classes. The Foreign Language Department and the Course Schedule can answer specific questions about enrolling in a language class. Language News has information about campus language clubs and activities. CCSF’s Study Abroad Programs offer many opportunities to live and study in Brazil, France, Italy, Spain, and many other countries!

  • Online placement recommendation tests are available for French, German, and Spanish. CCSF administers placement testing for Chinese and Japanese.
