General Information

  • When the the Language Center’s ongoing move to R403 (fourth floor of the Rosenberg library on Ocean campus) is complete, in addition to the current audio materials available, our facility will provide video and computer stations with unrestricted high-speed web access to support and complement coursework in the credit-program languages taught at City College of San Francisco: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Pilipino, Russian, and Spanish, as well as Modern Greek in the non-credit program through Continuing Education.

  • Unless otherwise posted, regular hours of operation are:

    Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 6:45 pm
    Friday, 8:00 am to 2:45 pm
    Saturday, 10:00 am to 1:45 pm

  • Explore this page to learn about the Language Center. Instructors can view the instructors’ resource page for useful links. The Learning Assistance Center, located in R-207, offers free tutoring for students.

  • The Online Language Lab has audio/video materials to accompany many of the textbooks used in the language classes. The Foreign Language Department and the Course Schedule can answer specific questions about enrolling in a language class. Language News has information about campus language clubs and activities. CCSF’s Study Abroad Programs offer many opportunities to live and study in Brazil, Cuba, France, Italy, Mexico, and many other countries!

  • Online placement recommendation tests are available for French, German, and Spanish. CCSF administers placement testing for Chinese and Japanese.
