How to Apply
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Nutrition Assistant Program is based on the following:
| | 1. Graduation from an accredited high school, or have passed the G.E.D. test, or have passed the California High School Proficiency examination. |
| | 2. Submission of a written program application. (NOTE: If the number of students who meet criteria #3 exceeds maximum class size, admission will also be determined by the filing date of application on a first-come, first-serve basis.) |
| | 3. Completion of the 1-unit pre-requisite course HOEC 98, “Introduction to the Nutrition Assistant Program” with a grade of C or higher. (NOTE: All applicants to the program must enroll in HOEC 98 which is offered the first five weeks of the fall semester. Upon admission to the program, the student will enroll in the other courses which start the sixth week of the same semester.) |
Preferred Completed Courses/Experience:
| | 1. Recommended English proficiency level: placement in ENGL 90 or ESL 160, or completion of ESL 150 with a grade of C or higher. |
| | 2. High school chemistry and biology |
| | 3. Basic computer skills; basic math skills |
| | 4. Experience working in health or nutrition in a community or hospital setting |
Upon Acceptance into the Program:
A physical exam, and a negative TB test or chest X-ray are required.
