Health Education and Community Health Studies Major
The new major will prepare students for transfer to universities for further study in health education, public health and related disciplines. Students will analyze health issues within a social justice framework and learn how to promote community health.
This major consists of a 24 unit course of study which includes 15 units of required courses and 9 units of electives.
Required courses:
٭ HLTH 8 Preparation for Careers in Health – 1 unit
٭ HLTH 54 Introduction to Public Health – 3 units
٭ One of the following: HLTH 25, 27 or 53 – 3 units
٭ BIO 9 or 11 – 4 units
٭ MATH 80 or ECON 5 or PSYC 5 (statistics) – 4 units
ELECTIVE COURSES: Students must take at least 9 units of electives, including at least 3 units of Subject Electives and 3 units of Skills Electives. Please note that some electives have required pre-requisite courses.
