Ms. Turner began teaching at CCSF in Spring 2004.
Her teaching philosophy acknowledges that the individual health decisions we face are made in social, political, economic, and cultural contexts. By exploring these contexts, we can better understand why we make certain decisions about our health. Sharon’s teaching style is also greatly influenced by the popular education she received at San Francisco State University.
Sharon has worked on HIV/AIDS in Uganda, Africa focusing on increasing the capacity of AIDS Service organizations. She also has experience in social marketing, lead prevention, and asthma education.
Sharon currently teaches Health 33 and is the Associate Director of the Drug & Alcohol Certificate program at CCSF.
In her free time, Sharon performs with the City College folk dance troupe.
