Patrick Barresi, M.P.H.

I’ve been a part-time faculty member since Fall 2000.  I first started here at City College teaching in the HIV Prevention Certificate Program.  From there I moved on to Men’s Health Studies, where I’ve been ever since.

I received my Masters of Public Health in Health Education and Promotion from the University of South Carolina in 1989 and went to work for the SC Department of Health AIDS Division.  I helped organize prevention for gay and bisexual men and college students throughout the state.  In 1994 I moved to San Francisco and went to work for STOP AIDS Project as a community organizer.  I started the Neighborhood Mobilization program at STOP AIDS.  From there I went to the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at UCSF in 1997.  I was the Project Coordinator for the EXPLORE Study, a national study of risk-reduction counseling for gay and bisexual men.

Since leaving CAPS in 2003, I’ve served as a consultant in international health issues in Zimbabwe and Southeast Asia.  Additionally, I traveled to Uganda to do consulting in curricula development.  I also consult the Speed Project at San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
