Biography:

Dr. Sausa is a part-time Instructor in the Health Education and Community Health Studies Department, and the Interdisciplinary Studies Department at CCSF. He is award-winning researcher, dynamic national trainer, and innovative adjunct professor with 10 years of experience in the field of health disparities and HIV prevention education, training, and research. He has conducted transgender HIV prevention research and coordinated California state-wide HIV research projects; provided over 125 comprehensive capacity building trainings throughout the United States for health professionals about transgender health and evidence-based HIV interventions and services; and taught 14 different graduate and undergraduate courses on sexuality, health, and transgender studies. In addition, he has a number of publications about the needs of transgender communities in education, HIV prevention, and health care; and presented and guest lectured at over 50 international, national, and regional conferences and universities.

 

Dr. Sausa is currently the Curriculum & Training Administrator at the Center of Excellence for Transgender HIV Prevention in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, Dr. Sausa is a Certified HIV Prevention Counselor, and a Certified Sexuality Educator through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
