Dee-Dee Stout, MA, CADC-II, MINT, SAP, ICADC, ARPS

 

Dee-Dee Stout received her Bachelor's degree (with honors) in Psychology, minoring in Human Sexuality, from San Francisco State University (SFSU) where she also earned her Special Major Master's (with honors) in Health Counseling for Special Populations.  Additionally, Dee-Dee is both a California certified drug and alcohol counselor, level II (CADC-II), with international reciprocity (ICADC) and a nationally certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).  She is part of the internationally-known Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), having trained with author & researcher, Professor Emeritus William R. Miller.  Dee-Dee has received extensive additional training in such areas as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (Fred Rotgers, Ph.D.), Solution-Focus Brief Therapy (Scott Miller, Ph.D.), Relapse Prevention (Terence T. Gorski, MA), Creative Inquiry (Jane Pellar, LCSW & John Walters, LCSW), Stages of Change (James Prochaska, Ph.D.), Harm Reduction (Patt Denning, Ph.D.), CRAFT (Bob Meyers), and more.  Dee-Dee began teaching in Alcohol and Drug Studies at Cal State Hayward, helping to design their certificate program, and has been at CCSF since 2000, where she teaches several courses including Motivational Counseling.  She is also Adjunct Faculty at SFSU, where she has taught since 1991.  Having worked in the field of substance use disorders and treatment for nearly 20 years, Dee-Dee can be seen across California and the United States as a frequent speaker and trainer.  She also maintains a coaching and consulting agency in the East Bay.  Recently, Dee-Dee was featured on the Emmy Award winning TV show, 'Penn & Teller's Bullsh*t!' discussing "12-Stepping."  She is currently completing a book on Harm Reduction and 12-Step to be published early 2008.
