Amanda Rittenhouse, Ph.D., M.P.H.

I have worked in the health field since the early 1980's and have been teaching at the community college level since the early 1990's. My background is in health education and research in women's health. I teach at City College of San Francisco and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. My education includes a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters degree in Public Health from Berkeley. After completing my Masters, I went to the University of California, San Francisco, and received a Ph.D. in medical sociology with an emphasis in women's health. I also have post-doctoral training in alcohol and drug studies with an emphasis on gender issues. My interests include premenstrual syndrome, sexuality, and drug and alcohol issues. My teaching philosophy is one of empowerment and critical thinking. I hope that my students not only gain knowledge, but learn to question what they read and formulate their own opinions on health matters. I can be reached through the Health Science Department at CCSF (415)452-5154.
