Abby M. Rincón, MPH
Instructor, Community Health Worker Program
As of fall semester 2002, Abby became the
instructor for the Community Health Worker class at City College in San
Francisco. While beginning her career in nursing, she loved prevention work and
went on to get her masters in public health at UC Berkeley. She brings over 20
years of professional experience in the field of public health and specifically
community health education. She has worked as a health educator serving
high-risk adolescents in San José as well as migrant farm workers in northern
California. Currently, she is the Director of Community Health Promotion at UC
Berkeley’s University Health Service. There she manages several programs that
serve the student body and the greater community of Berkeley. She has enjoyed
teaching public health courses for undergraduates and graduates at UC Berkeley
and San Francisco State University. Abby’s philosophy of teaching is that
everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student.
