What is MHA?

The Metropolitan Health Academy (MHA) is a new program for the first two years of college starting Fall 2008 that can be completed at either City College of San Francisco (CCSF) or San Francisco State University (SFSU).

Highlights of the Metropolitan Health Academy (MHA):

• On completion of MHA, students, having met all transfer requirements, are guaranteed admission into San Francisco State University’s Community Health Education major as a junior
• Students take classes together with other students in a community of learners designed to provide extra support so no one has to “go it alone”
• Students complete their general education requirements (such as English and Math) with classes that use interesting, real-life community health challenges as examples
• Advising helps you stay on track with the right courses to get your degree quickly
• If you complete MHA at City College you are eligible for an Associate’s Degree and are eligible to apply for admission to any CSU

In MHA, students will become strong advocates for community health and social justice through learning to write effectively, speak powerfully, and think critically about public health concerns.
