HIV/STI Prevention Studies Certificates in Specialty Skills Areas
The HIV/STI Prevention Studies Program offers Certificates in the specialty areas of outreach; focus on risk reduction counseling, referrals, linkages, and other outreach strategies. Case Management; focus on health advising, intake interviewing, data collection, documentation, and referral, Facilitation; focus on group dynamics and leadership skills for facilitation of meetings and support groups. Each certificate focuses on a specific skill set supported by core curriculum in HIV and STI prevention, and health education and promotion.
Graduates are qualified for employment as paraprofessionals in the HIV/STI field and work in a variety of community-based, public and private health and social service settings. In addition, these certificates have been designed to combine course work with the Community Health Worker, Drug and Alcohol Studies and Sexual Health Educator Certificate programs.
Health 67: HIV/STI Prevention Education
Education and skills training in peer education to help diverse populations to reduce their risk of infection with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), especially HIV/AIDS. STI/HIV prevention activities are conducted among CCSF students as members of Project SAFE with volunteer work in community-based organizations.
