Design and Printing Services

Digital Printing Services

At the Mission Campus, color and black-and-white digital printing is available at cost to City College departments and programs. Digital printing is well suited for short-run jobs and multiple page documents. A variety of binding options and paper stocks are available.

Please call (415) 551-1155 to discuss whether digital printing is appropriate for your needs. You may also contact our Digital Print Production Coordinator at digiprnt@ccsf.edu, or drop by Mission Campus room 329.

Graphic Production Services

The GRPH 68 class creates brochures, flyers, posters, stationery, invitations, envelopes, newsletters, business cards and a variety of other printed products for City College of San Francisco.

Working under the close supervision of experienced, professionally-trained college instructors, CCSF students work on all facets of your project including design, production, prepress and printing. Students gain the opportunity to practice their skills while providing your department or program with high quality, cost-effective design and printing.

Below are some guidelines for having your departmental projects designed and printed.

Procedure

Call us at (415) 239-3082. We will discuss your project and budget with you, and a student will be assigned to your job. You and the student then meet to review your job and discuss the "feel" and scope of the project. A preliminary estimate is provided, which you must approve to move your project forward. You will be billed for materials—paper, film, ink and outside bindery—but we do not charge for labor. We reserve the right to refuse work that we believe will not provide useful learning experiences for students.

Plan Ahead

Paper orders can take up to 3 weeks if placed through the business office. In addition, the production class meets twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Jobs are completed only during these times. Please allow sufficient time for completion of your project! We do NOT accept rush jobs.

Sample timeline
for a simple 1-color, 3-panel brochure, 9" x 12"
Design/proofing 3 class periods
Prepress work 2 class periods
Printing 2 class periods
Bindery 2 class periods

Total approximate time from start to finish: 4 to 5 weeks.

Your Responsibilities

We can only begin work on your job when you have all the content (text, pictures, etc.) ready for us. Please be prepared to supply text and images before production begins. Submit text electronically on CD, Zip disk or via email. A hardcopy of your text MUST be supplied with the disk. All photographs or illustrations should be high quality; snapshots generally are not usable. (We can review your existing photographs at our initial design meeting, or discuss obtaining new photographs.)

Methods of Payment

You can pay by check or a Transfer of Funds through the business office. Transfers are initiated at the inception of the job and fund/budget numbers must be submitted at that time. In some instances, payment is made through VTEA funds. Please contact the office of Voc Ed if this is the case with your job. Checks are the preferred method of payment, which is due when the job is delivered. Due to the high demand for our work, we are unable to accommodate pro-bono projects.
