Education:
Attended Sonoma State College
– Sociology major
New College of California
– BA Degree Humanities
Professional Background:
In my last year of College I served an internship working in the San Francisco County Jails
as a rehabilitation counselor providing alternatives to incarceration and promoting reforms to improve the delivery of medical and educational services to county jail prisoners.
That experience lead to many positions working in San Francisco community-based organizations addressing the employment and training needs of San Francisco resident ex-offenders and disadvantaged youth.
The development of my printing and publishing skills occurred while serving an apprenticeship in the Printers and Lithographers Union at the California State Automobile Association (CSAA) in Brisbane. The variety of tasks: operating the press, shooting negatives/halftones to finishing books provided me with a broad range of skills in all areas of print production.
My passion for education evolves around the desire to help people develop skills that lead to upward mobility. Through education and the development of skills, I believe we can empower people to have a better life than previous generations.
Interests:
In my spare time I like to commune with nature by floating down Northern California rivers in my drift boat.
