As
a CCSF faculty member since 1989,
I have developed and taught many of the graphic design, typography
and production art courses in the department. My professional graphic
design experience includes many years of in-house and freelance
work for a diverse group of clients. I keep in touch with the Bay
Area design community through membership in the American Institute
of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and serve as the faculty advisor to the
CCSF AIGA Student Group.
I have a B.A. in Industrial Arts from San Francisco State University.
I can't imagine being anything but a teacherI love it! In
all my classes, I strive to help students develop creativity, critical
thinking, communications abilities and the technical skills needed
for success in the workplace. By exposing students to a broad range
of historical and contemporary design work, I hope to assist them
in finding their own interests and passions. I believe that students
need to be curious, open to new ideas and willing to embrace learning
as an ongoing pursuit to succeednot just as designers, but
as contributing members of society.
Besides design, I'm interested in cooking, the pleasures of the
table, slow food, various arts/crafts and travel to just about anywhere.
