the Department fictitious production company, produced a professional fashion show that showcased the design talent of CCSF fashion design students. Inspired by the classic Fellini film
La Dolce Vita starring Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg, student designs referenced the glamour of Rome in the 60 by using luxe fabrics such as satin, lame, and chiffon. Designers played with flirty details, relying on bias cuts, ruffles and flounces to create dramatic impact. Collections were injected with some fun high-voltage camp punctuated by feathers and metallics. Print and color clashes came together in sexy shapes for a strong youthful look. Individualism and diversity were high on the agenda, showing skilled cutting techniques and attention to detail, coupled with imaginative styling and color mixes.
