Eligibility Instructions for Students
You must show eligibility for
the English class you wish to
add. The eligibility requirements for each class are listed in the
college
catalog and are summarized on the reverse of this page. Keep your eligibility documents
until you complete your program or degree.
I.
For students who enroll in the class
during the
registration period, the instructor will have a list showing your
eligibility.
If the list shows that you are not eligible for the class, the
instructor will
drop you from the class and add other students who are eligible.
II.
Students who have not pre-registered
for the class and
wish to add the class must show eligibility for the class before the instructor
will sign an add-slip.
III.
You
are reminded that it is English Department policy that you must be
present on
the first day of class. If you are not present, you will be considered
a
no-show, and your place will be given to someone else.
IV.
If
you have lost your eligibility form, you may replace it. The following
offices
can provide the information listed.
1.
Matriculation
Office, Conlan Hall, E204. Ask for your English Placement.
2.
Admissions and
Records, Conlan Hall E107. Ask for an evaluation of your official
transcript or present your SAT or AP test results. This office will
verify your
documents and give you a Placement Testing Waiver form.
3.
Outside of
Batmale 514. Get a copy of the English Eligibility Essay Exam
results for
the previous semester.
4.
Batmale 514,
English Eligibility Coordinator. Ask for information if you have
problems
making yourself eligible for a class after using the resources above.
All
students from out-of-state or private colleges will need to provide
transcripts
(online transcripts not accepted), course descriptions or syllabi, and
possibly
meet with the coordinator to determine status.
Eligibility procedures for Students Taking
Evening Classes
Students taking
evening classes may
give your referral form to the instructor who will verify your status
with the
coordinator. You do not need to see Matriculation or Admissions and
Records to
get proof of eligibility unless you are a CCSF student.
Do not leave your eligibility
documents with your
instructor. Your instructor will look at the documents, make note of
your
eligibility and return them to you. Keep your documents to use for
other
classes and in subsequent semesters.
