How to attach a file to an email message using WebCT
These screen shots may look different on your computer but the process should be similiar.

Open Mail. (Your instructor may or may not make this tool available.)

Click on Compose message.

Click the Browse button (next to the "Send to" field) for the list of people in your class. Click on the name of the person you want to send an email to, then click Select.

If you want to send the email to more than one person either:

  • hold down the shift key while selecting adjacent names or
  • hold down the control key to select names not next to each other.

Type a subject title and your message.

Click on the Browse button located towards the bottom of the screen to start the attachment process.

Navigate to the file you want to upload. (Your computer screen may look different than this screen shot but the process should be similiar.)

Select the file then click the Open button.

Verify that your file was uploaded by looking at the text field next to the Browse button...you will see a file path if the file was correctly uploaded. Your file has been uploaded but not attached. You must click the Attach File button to attach the file.

Compose Mail Message

Under the Attach File button you will now see the name of the file you uploaded.

If you decide not to attach the file, select the file first by clicking in the box next to the name of the file. Then click the Remove Attachments button.

Click the Send button to send your message with the file attached.
