Janice Sullivan, Textile Arts

Janice Sullivan is both an artist and teacher. She has been exhibiting her Double Woven Metallic Wall pieces since 1984, both locally and nationally. She is represented in many corporate and private collections including numerous Kaiser facilities in the Bay Area. She has been teaching since 1987, joining City College 1995. The visual image of her work is created tbrough the use of complex weave structures, both woven and painted, layering and pleating multi-tensioned fabrics and the interaction of light on reflective surfaces. Recently she has been exploring the three dimensional structure of textiles through a variety of fibers, yarn twists, spacing and cramming warps. In this way she creates subtle surface textures suitable for apparel and interior fabrics.
