Monoprint is a cross over discipline that combines skills of drawing and painting with printmaking and in this course a wide variety of contemporary monoprint techniques are introduced. Through lecture, demonstration, studio practices, and critiques, students develop the skills and concepts necessary for building a solid working basis in this exciting area. Introducing students to a number of complex and advanced monoprint techniques, this course stresses the development of individual artistic growth. Building on methods learned in ART 151A, students plan and execute long term thematic, mixed media, and self-directed projects. Students also explore contemporary issues and approaches in printmaking and art. CSU/UC. Prerq.: Art 151A

The emphasis of Advanced Monoprinting is the further development of the student's creative process to execute long term thematic, mixed media and self-directed projects. Students utilize materials, processes, and methods of beginning, intermediate and advanced monoprinting, while focusing on a body of interrelated monoprints that explore their personal creativity through experimental means. Students prepare a portfolio of work that is suitable for advanced study, transfer, and/or career opportunities. CSU. Prerq.: Art 151B
