This introductory course examines a broad range of contemporary gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues in various contexts including
bio-medical, sociological, political, racial and sexual. Additionally,
students have the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills and practical

period in both the gay rights movement and American film history. The resulting
images represented queerness more openly than ever before, while simultaneously
