Unit Coordinator
Unit Coordinator students learn medical terminology by studying prefixes, suffixes, and roots, and medical abbreviations. Students are also introduced to body structures and functions. They learn how to transcribe physician orders, understand medication orders, and communicate and assist medical professionals in a variety of ways. Additionally, they receive on-the-job training for one month in a local hospital, thus providing students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a working environment. Biotech Programs The Southeast Campus is offering two new Biotech Training Programs to meet job demands in this rapidly growing industry. The Bridge to Biotech Program and Bridges Internship Job Preparation Program feature pertinent course work and part time internships in industry In these programs, students review math skills, learn to apply math to biotechnology, focus on basic biotech vocabulary, readings, and practice biotechnology laboratory skills. The programs are offered in the evenings to accommodate students with day jobs. These programs were developed as the initial steps to the "Biotech Career ladder." The Biotech Career ladder offers four modules ending with the Biotech Certificate program. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to enter into the Biotech field because there are numerous well-paying jobs for ordinary folks. All it takes to succeed is a desire to work hard, study hard, and to have a commitment to learn the necessary skills. |
