Nursing Assistant
The nursing assistant program is offered exclusively at the Southeast campus. The goal of this program is to train students in nursing skills which will make them immediately employable in health care facilities. This one semester course of study is divided into three individual classes. The first, convalescent care, a ten week, six unit course, is a combination of basic nursing theory and supervised hands on experience in a long term care setting. The program is state approved and will prepare the student to take the California State Certification Examination in anticipation of employment in extended care facilities. Home

Students are given hands on experience in an acute care setting in the mornings and theory is conducted at the clinical site in the afternoons. Upon completion, students will be awarded a certificate from the college which will assist them in pursuing a position in an acute care hospital. Child
Development and Family Studies
The Campus hosts a number of credit Child Development and Family Studies classes, including Child, Growth, and Development, Children with Special Needs, and Supervised Field Experience. In addition to the course offerings, Southeast also hosts a number of workshops which include lectures and activities for foster care providers. Hotel and Front Office Operations This course involves a general overview of the hotel industry followed by in- depth instruction in the operations of an automated hotel front office, including reservations, guest registration and check out, cashiering, and night audit. Each student learns to perform tasks on a PC-based, state-of-the-art hotel Property Management System. Instruction includes role-playing, extensive use of videos, and resume preparation and interviewing technique instruction. The Working Adults Degree Program (WADP) While students must take the regular College Assessment Test to determine their English and Math eligibility, we strive to offer pre-WADP courses to assist our students to accomplish and complete the required core courses for their graduation. Students are eligible to transfer to a four-year university or college after completion of their work in the Working Adults Degree Program. Our WADP program is successful because our WADP staff continues to work relentlessly with our students. We are successful when our students continue to graduate and strive for even higher academic endeavors. |
