Civil Service Examination Credit

For certain classes, you will be given credit in the civil service examination process upon successful completion of classes. The unions and civil service personnel continue to work out the details of this agreement. Check the San Francisco Transit Career Ladder website for updated information about civil service points.

Reimbursement

Based on union contracts, MUNI will reimburse employees for tuition and books for each class that they successfully complete. Tuition Reimbursement forms are available from your Union Chair and the MUNI website which has a downloadable Career Ladder Partnership Reimbursement Form. Class instructors will also have this form available the first class meeting. You must send the required form to MUNI for approval of reimbursement within the first two class meetings. You are required within 30 days of the class start date to submit proof of payment for your tuition costs. Original receipts for books and tuition from CCSF, a cancelled check (front and back), a credit card statement, or similar documents will be accepted. Send this information to MUNI Human Resources, 401 Van Ness Avenue, Room 320, San Francisco, CA 94102, Attention: Tuition Reimbursement.

Upon course completion and after class grades are posted (approximately three weeks), the San Francisco Career Ladder program office will provide confirmation of all successfully completed classes to MUNI Human Resources.

Tuition Fees

The enrollment fee for California community colleges is now $18.00 per semester unit. For example, the tuition for a class that is 1.5 units is $27.00 plus health fee. All students will need to pay the health fee of $11.00 per semester unless they qualify for Federal or state financial aid.
