ESL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE) PROGRAM

The Mission Campus offers a full range of tuition free English as a Second Language courses with continuous enrollment. Classes are offered at six different sites throughout the community. These courses are designed for students whose first or native language is not English.
Students gain proficiency in English to find employment to continue their education and to function successfully in the culture of the United States. Survival skills are stressed in the first three levels of the program. Students are tested and placed at their appropriate level through the Office of Admissions and Enrollment.

ESL LTERACY PROGRAM
Literacy classes are offered for those who have had limited (up to fifth grade) or no formal education in their native country, as well as for those who have limited ability to write in their native language. Literacy Classes are available in English or Spanish. The courses offered at the Mission Campus are designed primarily for Spanish speakers.
ESL CITIZENSHIP PROGRAM
Citizenship classes are offered day and evening for those students who need to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test given by the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services. We collaborate with Community based organizations such as La Raza Central Legal to support residents seeking to become citizens.
