Bienvenue au Café Musée... and welcome to Historia! The purpose of the Café Musée is to enjoy the French language in lively discussions of art and history. We meet various times a year at City College of San Francisco. At our meetings we first share coffee, refreshments, and conversations, then we settle into a structured discussion of an art or history topic of mutual interest with slides and the assistance of a French-speaking discussion-leader. en français...
guider.
Historia...
A new club has been
born: Historia. Historia
is open to all students
who are interested in European history, especially in the 19th and 20th
centuries, colonization, decolonization, wars for independence, WWI and
WWII. Historia is working to bring together students of French, German,
Italian, and Spanish to discuss movies and presentations about such
topics as colonization, wars for independance, the French-Prussian war,
WWI, the Spanish Civil War, and WWII, seen fom different European
perspectives.
Since the idea and realization of Historia comes mainly from people already involved in Le Cafe Musee activities and/or its management, we will post the events of both clubs here on this web site. However, the main difference will be that while Cafe Musee has a focus on art and the French language, and is intended to attract in particular students of French and art history, Historia has a much broader focus on (European) history and will be offering themes that will be of interest to a much broader student audience. MISSION STATEMENT:
We are interested in the history of Europe, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries. We discuss movies and presentations about colonization, wars for independence, the Franco-Prussian War, WWI, WWII, etc. |
